PELICANS IN UNCHARTERED WATERS
I, probably like most Australians, have always associated pelicans with a coastal environment, and so much to my surprise I discovered many pelicans inland around St. George in Queensland. All around the Condamine/Balonne River, with its many weirs, dams and lakes, there are also lots of pelicans and it's a 5 and a half hour drive inland from Brisbane. Anyway, this was the inspiration for this painting, aside from the fact, that I love pelicans.
